Llangynidr is situated midway between Abergavenny and Brecon. Four miles from Crickhowell and six miles from the heads of the valley road, (A465). It is a very picturesque village on the south bank of the River Usk, deep in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Its name derives from St Cynidr a sixth century Welsh saint. The village first grew around the church in the upper village in medieval times. |
